Word Building Test is an elementary level test in which the testee is asked to form as many words as possible from a given set of letters. In the higher level, it refers to the testing of one's enrichment of vocabulary.

Weightage in its broad usage refers to the numerical or letter value awarded to an examinee for various aspects of his/her growth in the educational process. In a more restricted sense, it sometimes refers to the value given for the possession of higher qualifications, which are found more than the required ones in the relevant filed. The practice of awarding weightage is mostly followed in the process of continuous evaluation.

Weighted Scoring is differential award of marks for different items in a same test. This differential award of marks may also be employed for different responses to the same item. For example, in a test composed of 20 true-false items, 20 multiple choice items and 10 short answer items, the question setter may decide that each true-false item should be worth for only one point, each multiple-choice items for 2 points and each shorter answer questions for 3 points. Further, it may also be decided to specify the award of differential marks, viz., either 2 or 1, for a short answer response which otherwise qualifies for a maximum of 3 points. This may be based on the marking system that provides points proportionate to the validity of the responses.

Writing Test attempts to measure the writing skill of an examinee. It includes the testing of legible handwriting, neat writing, writing with speed, spelling, writing with comprehension, taking notes/dictation, etc.

Written Examination attempts to test various skills of an examine through his expressions in writing. Although examinations of different types and modes are advocated for the purpose of effective evaluation, in reality, the written examination is the one which influences the final result in greater degrees at every stage of the evaluation system.
